I lived in Denmark for about 29 years total. I lived in several different towns, but mostly (4 different periods) in the town of Aarhus on the Jutland peninsula.
In Aarhus, my daughter was born, I studied for my Danish Master’s degree in German and English, taught both at the University and in a high school, ran a diaper service, worked at my first Tech Writing jobs and sang in a chorale. Here I was also member of the American Women’s Club, for whom I created my first website.
Nevertheless, my heart was lost on Bornholm, a tiny island in the Baltic between Poland and Sweden, where I taught English and German in the Gymnasium (high school), sang in a chorale, went for innumerable hiking and biking excursions in its unique landscape with beautiful sandy beaches and Denmark’s only granite cliffs. You can get a good idea of the island from the linked website.
A couple of years ago, my husband and I took a trip back to Denmark. I recently uploaded my pictures from the trip to Flickr, which you can see by clicking this badge.
